Cowboy Up!
Had a great day with the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum at Francis Tuttle Technology Center. I got to work with their leadership team and we did the Leadership Pickles program by Bob Farrell. I’m so impressed by what they accomplish out there. They truly are a national treasure and one of Oklahoma’s crown jewels that makes you proud to be an Okie! We discussed this importance of leaders having Enthusiasm, Confidence and Integrity (or as they simply refer to it as to… “Cowboy Up”)!
TCIM Communication/Feedback
This week I got to work with TCIM at Francis Tuttle Technology Center training on Communication and Feedback. What a fun group! I’m not sure I’ve had as much fun with a training group as I did with you guys… especially you dancing/singing afternoon group. It’s amazing how Disco music and fun training activities can make the day fly by! You guys are moving in a wonderful direction. Keep up the good work!
OBA Leaderhip
I’ve been working through Francis Tuttle with a leadership group with the Oklahoma Banker’s Association (OBA). Last week I presented Time Management and Generational Diversity. You all are a great group and I really enjoyed working with you all. Good luck with the rest of your leadership program, and I hope to work with you again.
Johnson Controls Leadership Class
Had a great day with Johnson Controls working with them on situational leadership. It’s always a great touch to incorporate some experiential activities with any program to emphasize certain points… as did the Corporate Box activity. You guys did great, by the way!!

Frontier Country Marketing Association
Had a great day at the Frontier Marketing Association Board retreat. We were at the Bricktown Ballpark on a beautiful pre-spring day… which also happened to be my birthday! Great group of folks moving in a great new direction. Good luck guys!

OfficeMax – Generational Differences
Had a great class with OfficeMax today on Generational Differences in the Workplace. They do so many things well at the Norman center… training being one of them. Many companies could benefit from training on this topic. However, all companies would reap the rewards of simply asking their employees what they want from their job (their management) and what it would take to motivate them to higher levels of productivity and commitment. I’m convinced that the one of the biggest obstacles to working well together is generational bias. Specifically, leaders have to get over how they thinkĀ people “should be” in order to make the necessary changes to usher in this next
HUGE generation of workers.
Pickle for C.L. Boyd

Had a great day training “Give ‘Em the Pickle” for C.L. Boyd. What a wonderful company! I can’t tell you how much unsolicited praise I heard today for their organization, their leadership and their culture. I was also amazed at how many employees had been there over 20 years. I think I see why this company is the industry leader. Good job and keep giving away those pickles!
Classes this Week

Just got back from a great week of training in Altus, OK. I facilitated leadership workshops for both the Jackson County Hospital and the Altus Air Force Base. It’s fun getting to “hang out” in a small town for a few days. The classes went well, the people of Altus are so friendly and the participants were very open to learning new things. I also always enjoy working with Dianna Thompson and Roger Kerr at Southwest Technology Center. They’re just great folk!
